15 Year Old strings on a Dirt Cheap Bass: Shootout

  • 15 Year Old strings on a Dirt Cheap Bass

Ugh. Bass players. Where to start? You’ve seen my Rule #2 shirts, right? I digress. Today we have something really cool! An ultra cheap bass guitar that had 15 year old strings on it. I’ve seen a lot situations where a bass player comes into the studio and hasn’t put new strings on, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen them this old before. I know a lot of you guys out there are struggling with the same thing; a Bass player who’s too cheap to restring his bass.

I thought this would be a great example of a before and after shootout: Old really dead strings on a crappy bass vs new ones. Because most of the guys playing bass in bands have exactly this setup! Old, dead strings on the cheapest bass they could find!

If you’re a drummer, you’re going to find this guide offensive. It never ceases to amaze me how easily big, tough heavy metal drummers get offended….
